After his start as a production worker with The Boeing Company he worked his way through a variety of commercial and military positions including Project Management, Quality Assurance, Finance, Procurement, and Supply Chain Coordination. His last position before retirement was strategic planning responsibility for over 7500 aerospace suppliers and management of all raw material inventory for the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company.
In addition to Boeing, his career has included extensive Industrial Engineering experience with an international insurance company, a construction industry trust fund administration, several machine shops, and an electronic assembly company. He has owned and operated a book store, a coffee shop, and a management consulting service. He was an electronic technician with the United States Air Force.
He has been a full professor with the Business Department of nine colleges and universities located in Washington, Maryland, and Germany. He has written textbooks and taught a variety of courses including Management Information Systems, Operations Management, Principles of Management, Human Relations, and Human Resource Management.
Dr. Larkin is currently an active member of the Business Management Advisory Committee with Olympic College serving Kitsap and Mason counties.
